Cara George

Cara George is one of my favorite people in Washington, D.C. She is an amazing person, incredible yoga instructor and super talented graphic designer. You can catch one of her classes at YogaDistrict. I've had the pleasure of photographing Cara on several occasions. Here are a few from a recent shoot in my studio located in NoMA. And, several from an earlier shoot "street yoga" on H. Street N.E.

What do you love about DC? I love DC's edgy underground. At the surface it seems like it is all buttoned-up folks, but DC has an amazing and diverse community of artists, foodies, yogis, and overall weirdos. It's great. I also love DC's residential/row-house architecture. It rivals Brooklyn brownstones!

What do you do?

I am a freelance graphic designer and a yoga teacher. You can find me at www.carageorgedesign.com, and on the Yoga District schedule all around town.

What makes you happy? So many things make me happy! Here are a few: morning meditation, craving pizza something fierce and then eating it, records, Led Zeppelin, camp fires, watching movies in bed, bare feet, symmetry, old wood, calligraphy, crystals.

What are you reading right now? I'm doing a lot of re-reading these days: "The Gift" by Hafiz (translations by Daniel Landinsky), Autobiography of a Yogi by Paramahansa Yogananda, and these great little comic books about the amazing universe by Yumi Sakugawa
