SK8R GRLS Paris

SK8R GRLS, a photography series by E. Brady Robinson, was presented at Mark Hachem Gallery in Paris and curated by Dagmar Painter. On view from November 23 to 25, 2023, the exhibition opened with a vernissage on Thursday, November 23. The work explored the resurgence of roller skating as a form of personal expression, empowerment and joy. Through bold, high-energy portraits, Robinson documented a diverse cast of creatives whose identities intersected with movement, style and community.

Inspired by her own return to skating during the pandemic, Robinson’s approach blended documentary and fine art photography. The series combined location-based portraits from across Baltimore with studio images that evoked the nostalgic atmosphere of 1980s roller rinks. SK8R GRLS celebrated freedom on wheels and the fierce individuality of a new generation of cultural icons.
